A musical road trip
After a series of successful performances on London's West End, South African Road Trip now comes to the Netherlands with Roots! In this new show you will go on a unique journey through South Africa, to immerse yourself in the traditions of the rich Xhosa culture. The fourteen musicians and dancers of South African Road Trip perform full of passion and energy and tell you compelling and personal stories.
About the place where they grew up, where they first heard music and which South African traditions have been of great significance to them. Traditional songs on authentic instruments alternate with well-known songs by artists such as Miriam Makeba, Tracey Chapman and Brenda Fassie.

Introduction before the performance
Albert Klein Kranenburg is both director and tour manager and provides the introduction. During the introduction he will talk about the value that traditional Xhosa culture has in South Africa and what it is like to hold on to and connect with your roots in today's society.
He also explains the (makers of the) performance. There is also the opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation. The introduction starts at 3:00 PM in the Diner Foyer and is free of charge upon presentation of a ticket for the performance. The introduction is in Dutch.
