Rusalka
The water nymph Rusalka, like the little mermaid, wants nothing more than to become human. This way she can live on land with the prince she is in love with. But that transformation requires sacrifice: a sea witch wants to help her, in exchange for her vote. However, it proves difficult for the silent water nymph to find her place in the human world.

rusalka is the most beloved opera by the Czech composer Antonín Dvořák. Famous is Rusalka's 'Song to the Moon', in which she begs the moon to tell her lover that she is waiting for him. The music of the opera is extremely poetic and sensual and allows nature, nymphs and water spirits to come to life in a beautiful sound painting.
