Dr. Rebekah Vince speaks about her first experience with Etty Hillesum's stories. She does this through the novel Les Attentives by the French-Algerian author Karima Berger. She then enters into an interactive dialogue with quotes from the Etty Hillesum Cards project in Dutch and English translation.

A Dutch translation can be provided for the interactive part if necessary. Dr. Rebekah Vince is a British-Dutch poet, translator and researcher interested in dialogic approaches to memory, heritage and storytelling.

Etty Hillesum Month

A special Etty Hillesum Month will be organized in April 2024 in the run-up to May 4 and 5. Several diverse activities related to the Jewish diarist will take place in both Amsterdam South and Middelburg. Etty Hillesum, born in Middelburg, lived during the Second World War at Gabriël Metsustraat 6 overlooking Museumplein in Amsterdam. There, she wrote her world-famous diaries. During the theme month, there is an exhibition about Etty Hillesum by Marijke Dijkstra in OBA Roelof Hartplein.
