The story

Thomas Novachek (the protagonist) is a writer, and his play will premiere soon. He complains on the phone about the shortcomings of the actresses who have come to audition for the leading role of Vanda von Dunayev. At the last minute, Wanda Jordan bursts into the audition room. She is brash, vulgar and uneducated, but she still convinces Thomas to let her audition.
