New notes for recorder Juho Myllylä
Blindfolded recorder player Juho Myllylä, equally at home in contemporary composed music as prog rock and folk, plays four new works that emerged from an open call commissioned by the Grachtenfestival, Gaudeamus and November Music. Together they create a unique aesthetic and approach to the recorder, with and without live electronics.

Triggered by the whistle
'Waves (For Juho Myllylä)' by Adrián Crespo Barba combines bass (set) recorder with sine waves triggered by the flute. Also in Ernst Spyckerelle's 'Marsyas', Myllylä enters into a dialogue (or contest?) with electronics, while Raivis uses Misjun's circular breathing to create a continuous, trance-like sound. Also a new work in four parts by Hildur Elísa Jónsdóttir.
This concert takes place in the Plein Theater as part of the Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam series.
