Shaking shame is an intimate performance that examines the connection between shame, pleasure and liberation. Together with four other players, Melyn Chow creates a landscape of shaking, deforming bodies. Sacred and promiscuous, light and grounded, playful and dangerous. Can both physical discomfort and physical desire drive transformation? Can be seen in Frascati.

Fueled by the gaze of the audience, the performers try to transform fear and shame into a powerful, liberating movement. Inspired by the words of Audre Lorde's essay Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power , the boundaries between the sensual, sexual and mundane blur into an evocative experience of the erotic as a source of power.
After the 'mime porn' video installation I happen to be doing this for you (Melyn Chow & Kim Zeevalk / Frascati Productions, 2023), Shaking Shame is Melyn Chow's second production at Frascati Productions. The work builds on Melyn's performance of the same name, made in 2022 at the AHK.
