Kembra Pfahler and Johanna Constantine

Kembra Pfahler (among others the driving force behind the band The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black) and Johanna Constantine have been involved in the Future Feminism collective from the outset, which also includes associate artists ANOHNI and CocoRosie. Future Feminism calls for the emergence of a female collective consciousness to save what is left of our world.

Together they made thirteen stones with statements in 2014, including: "The subjugation of woman and of the earth is one and the same" and "Release men from their role as protectors and predators." Since the project's inception in 2014, the principles of the Future Feminism Manifesto have gained prominence and been appropriated in popular culture, most notably statement number 13, "The Future is Female."

The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black presents The Way We Are . A fearless and activist concert with fantastic props and costumes designed by lead singer Kembra Pfahler herself. The lyrics are inspired by the thirteen statements of Future Feminism.

Performance artist and DJ Johanna Constantine presents her longest work ever: Tenebris Suspiria Naturae ('The Dark Sigh of Nature'). This multi-dancer work is themed around the struggle to survive in an unpredictable environment.

Kembra Pfahler: 'Now we have the term "interdisciplinary" (...) but for decades our ideas about performance, feminism, all those things that seem to be the zeitgeist today, were met with bottles thrown at you and being chased across the street. It's a new beginning. Perhaps this newfound popularity will lead us to a softer, feminine hour...' from: A Letter to the People of Utrecht and Europe at Large (2018)
