About Bros
23 non-professional actors star in this work by Castellucci alongside three professional performers. They wear American police uniforms and receive instructions through a transmitter in their ear. All of them have signed an agreement in which they pledge to obey. Without knowing what will happen, they carry out actions they do not choose themselves with consequences they do not foresee. This leads to a hallucinatory series of shocking situations.
About Castellucci
Castellucci is known for the indelible images that his work burns on the retina of the public. His great sense of beauty clashes with the serious social issues he addresses. The group of agents in Bros is reminiscent of Buster Keaton's Cops, but it is not laughable. Using a series of tableaux vivants, Castellucci asks questions about violence. Mixing images from pop culture, Christian imagery and mass media, he wraps a razor-sharp reflection on society in a fascinating trip that straddles silent film, slapstick comedy and contemporary imagination.
Castellucci: 'The artist's task is to compose an aesthetically problematic image. The spectator's task is to “look”; this verb alone calls spectators to make moral choices that test them personally.
This production contains scenes with loud noise and police brutality.
