Jérôme Bel wrote an 'auto-bio-choreo-graphy' about his choreographer work and involvement with the world around him. Because he no longer travels due to the climate, his story is told and edited in Frascati in Amsterdam by local artists Maria Magdalena Kozłowska and Pankaj Tiwari.

About Jerome Bel
In 2019, choreographer Jérôme Bel decided that he would no longer fly for ecological reasons. He devised The Sustainable Theatre project with director Katie Mitchell and Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne. This consists of two performances that tour in the form of scripts, text and a set of rules. A local cast and crew in each country sustainably produce the performance.
At the Holland Festival, makers Maria Magdalena Kozłowska and Pankaj Tiwari, who live in the Netherlands, will create this challenging concept in an original and clever way. Using video screenings, they tell the story in which Bel connects his earlier choreographies with his encounters, choices, doubts and involvement. In doing so, they will also process their experiences as makers and relate them to those of Jérôme Bel.
Fundamental issues are addressed in this artistic investigation of Bel's 30-year career. They are about vulnerability, being different, power relations, marginalization, justice, and equality. And about liberation from consumerism, capitalism and showbiz. Already at 33, Bel answered a journalist why he did his work: 'To save the world.'
