Het Nationale Ballet - Raymonda
Four and five star reviews and various mentions as 'best production of the year' in the international dance press: Raymonda (2022), the new full-length classic from Dutch National Ballet, received this reception. In her production at National Opera & Ballet, deputy artistic director Rachel Beaujean gives her own contemporary interpretation of the ballet story. At the same time, she makes the choreographic jewels of Marius Petipa's last great masterpiece shine like never before.
Het Nationale Ballet - Raymonda
Truly the new Christmas classic
For years, ballet companies worldwide usually only ventured to the third, festive marriage act from nineteenth-century Raymonda . The entire production was preferred to be avoided due to a rather stigmatizing plot. A shame, because from a choreographic point of view Raymonda is perhaps Petipa's best work. Beaujean: 'All the knowledge and experience he had previously gained with ballets such as The Sleeping Beauty , The Nutcracker and Swan Lake , he was able to process and perfect in Raymonda .'
