Giselle
In 2009, Rachel Beaujean and Ricardo Bustamante created their own new version of perhaps the most romantic production in the classical ballet repertoire. With success, because their Giselle not only captured the hearts of the Dutch public, but also those of spectators in Spain, China and Colombia, among others. Beaujean: “Put in the right way, Giselle goes deeper than the skin.”
Giselle
Romantic classic
The 'primal version' of Giselle dates from the heyday of Romanticism, but the ballet is still danced worldwide. Deputy artistic director Rachel Beaujean, who has been heading the artistic staff of Dutch National Ballet for twenty years this season: “Iconic ballets such as Giselle and Raymonda are essential works for the company to measure up internationally. Just as you are not a Rijksmuseum without Rembrandts, this also applies to us: these ballets are our heritage.
