Forsythe Festival
If there is one choreographer that has influenced and guided the development of contemporary dance art, it is William Forsythe. The traditional logic and dynamics of ballet have been turned upside down by him. Dutch National Ballet is proud to present for the first time a program with three of his masterpieces: The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, Pas/Parts 2018 and the Dutch premiere of the internationally acclaimed Blake Works 1.

Forsythe's return to classical ballet technique
Blake Works 1 was the first work in which Forsythe returned – after seventeen years of choreographic experimentation – to the classical ballet technique, which was also the basis of his great successes in the eighties and nineties. At the world premiere in Paris in 2016, the audience went crazy. In technically very challenging, but above all swinging solos, duets and group formations, the choreography reflects seven poetic songs from James Blake's album The Color in Anything .
