Hoping for the best
After Heijermans had studied the abuses in sea fishing, he wrote a complaint against shipowners who sent fishing vessels out to sea as 'floating coffins' to collect the insurance money. The glorious entrepreneurship at sea, of which the Netherlands is often proud, loses all its luster here. The story of the reckless entrepreneur who believes he has no other choice and the poor fishing family who is exploited still grips. But not only a contemporary fisherman, also package deliverers or Schiphol's baggage staff would recognize themselves in it.
