Ghayath Almadhoun

In 2013, during the first edition of Read My World, the Syrian-Palestinian-Swedish poet Ghayath Almadhoun (1979) made a great impression on the audience with his compelling lecture. He hurled his words into the garden like sledgehammer blows and since then several translations of his work have been published worldwide. At Jurgen Maas publishers, Djûke Poppinga previously translated Weg van Damascus and Ik hier jou alles (together with Anne Vegter)

Now there is finally new work, once again translated by Djûke Poppinga. Love poetry in the form of nightmares: 'You say I escaped the war. No, dear, no one escapes war. It's just that I didn't die. I kept living, that's all.'

On March 27 we will discuss his work with the poet and of course Almadhoun will read from his new poetry collection. Afterwards the work will be for sale and Almadhoun will sign it.
