Blood Show - Ocean Stefan (UK)

In a room somewhere, two people are locked in an endless gory fight. A raw, euphoric choreography between 3 figures and 75 litres of fake blood, Blood Show howls its call for us to put what’s inside on the outside and to defend against a violent gaze.

This cyclical feat of endurance and precision is a trans celebration of destroying things, including ourselves, in order to create something new. Circling around questions of rebirth and how we carry our ghosts with us, Blood Show is a slow experiment in concealing performers in order to make us think more about the limits of the human body. Why do we want to know what people ‘really’ look like? And how dangerous is the idea of ‘the natural’?

After its international premiere in Cardiff in 2024, Blood Show is now being presented for the first time outside the UK. The perfomance is part of Ocean Stefans The Extinction Trilogy. Three works (Monster Show, Blood Show and Nature Show) present a slow experiment in masking performers and trying to delete humans from the stage, in order to make us think more about our curiosity into what people ‘really’ look like.
