The end of most relationships always has a moment of delay, a pause filled with fear of the inevitable separation. It is that moment when two people hesitate to leave the room, aware that there is no way back. The door is open, but no one has the courage to take the first step. In that electrically charged state, oxygen becomes tangible and every breath is significant. Admitting your loss, being the first to leave, is a daunting challenge.

Standing on that edge of the abyss is something that intrigues choreographer Antonin Rioche – that one moment before the final break. You avoid each other’s gaze to avoid having to face reality. You stand there frozen, thinking about lighting the fire again, but the fire is dead and the wood is wet. You wait for the other person to open their mouth, to take the initiative, to be the first to leave the room.
