'Moving Beyond: Bro!'is an artistic exchange in dance, performance and music between the Senegalese choreographer, dancer, visual artist Alioune Diagne and the Dutch theater maker Joris Buizer. They work from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds, but are not held back by cultural dividing lines. Their worlds do not collide, but show intense cohesion.

Moving Beyond: Bro!
The story of brotherhood is based on the stories Alioune Diagne recorded of young men in Senegal who want to migrate to Europe. Together with keyboardist Thomas Lotgering and dancer Denzel Crocker, both makers investigate brotherhood and identity in a globalizing world and in relation to the place they belong to, the Netherlands and Senegal. What does brotherhood mean to them? From his African context and with crossovers between dance and visual arts, Alioune Diagne explores an African expression of brotherhood and solidarity. Joris Buizer explores brotherhood and identity from his context as a young Dutch maker who works with rap and spoken word. In this Moving Beyond Bro! the two makers look for similarities and differences in their artistic idiom and for the essence of brotherhood and solidarity.
This performance is the third part in a triptych in which African and Dutch makers create new work. Premiere at Afrovibes festival
