Ragged Music Festival - Pavel Kolesnikov en Samson Tsoy - Prokofjevs Assepoester
Pavel Kolesnikov and Samson Tsoy, the passionate programmers of this Ragged Music Festival, conclude the program together on two pianos with the spectacular suite from Prokofiev's ballet music Cinderella. The Russian pianist Mikhail Pletnev adapted Prokofiev's music for himself and Martha Argerich, not shying away from extreme tempo changes and rubato effects.

Spectacular suite for two pianos
Prokofiev's music is lyrical, but unsentimental. Cinderella's waltz, which forms the heart of Pletnev's suite, is full of wide-ranging melodies and surprising mood changes. In virtuosity and effect, little music for two pianos surpasses the finale of the suite, in which the clock strikes twelve and Cinderella has to flee from the ball.
