Discover ponds, bird groves, bee hives and flowers

The city is becoming less floral, and green spaces are becoming increasingly paved over. Residents in Amsterdam West will work with their gardens and create natural paradises. Hidden green gems behind the city blocks and busy streets. Some gardens have been there for a hundred years, and others have recently been renovated. There are worm hotels, frog ponds, bee fields, seas of flowers and bird groves.

Start the day at one of the five starting points listed here (in Dutch).

The residents are often present and will explain how they maintain each garden—a perfect opportunity to visit unique places in this part of Amsterdam. Use the map to create your own route. There is also a lot for children to enjoy including treasure hunts.

Entrance tickets are €3.50, only debit or credit cards, no cash. Free for children and Stadspas holders.
