On the Roof

Concert series On the Roof is a permanent summer oasis for lovers of live concerts in an intimate setting. On The Roof is making a musical journey through genres and cultures for the eleventh time on the most beautiful roof terrace in Amsterdam Noord.

On the Roof

Adventurous music under the stars

Brazilian great Márcio Faraco will kick off the season on Saturday 25 June. Furthermore, the emphasis is, as always, on the colourful, inspiring scene of melting pot Amsterdam with performances by Celine Cairo, KO Brass, Guy Salamon Group and a new performance by Flamenco dancer Conchita Boon. As a banging finale you will hear incomparable Funk Jazz with Goudsmit, Montis & Directie on Thursday 1 September.

Three family concerts on Sunday afternoon

New in 2022 are family concerts and an accompaniment program for Young Makers. On the Roof is known for its warm and friendly atmosphere, as it were 'a living room in the open air'. In order to emphasize this aspect and strengthen the ties with the surrounding neighbourhoods, three family concerts will be organized on Sunday afternoons this year. More informal and interactive in setting, with artists who like to be open to the dynamics that a young(er) audience brings: Boi Akih 'Storyteller', Neco Novellas and the Twitching Eye Trio .

Three Young Makers to discover

Chieko Donker Duivis , also featured as a Young Maker at the Grachtenfestival this year, will give a rooftop preview of her new compositions with her new ensemble composed for the occasion.

The Colombian-Curaçaoan Juliana Martina found her own voice within the Latin music scene and graduated cum laude at Codarts in Rotterdam. Her long-awaited debut album will be released later this year.

The Portuguese Joana Almeida and her band Cacha Mundinho present a refreshing palette of sounds and textures, with influences from Cape Verde to India.
