An unforgettable journey
Hotel Okura Amsterdam invites wine lovers to unlock the secrets of global signatures with Noël’s Wine Exploration. Under the expert guidance of Honorary Gastronomy Sommelier Noël Vanwittenbergh of Ciel Bleu Restaurant, guests will discover how a single grape variety, driven by history and geography, transforms into unique expressions in different countries. From native soil to food culture, Noël will reveal the characteristics that give each bottle a unique signature. Noël’s Wine Exploration is an unforgettable journey that will change the way you look at wine forever.
When?
Starting Wednesday 19 March, the tasting will take place every 3 weeks from 19:30 to 21:30 in the elegant setting of the Lobby Bar of Hotel Okura Amsterdam. For a limited period of three months, this carefully composed tasting will reveal the flavour nuances of wine in an unparalleled way. Each session follows the journey of a grape, from its origins to the different countries where it has developed, and shows how climate, soil and culture influence the flavour.
The first session will be filled with the refined taste of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varieties. “With the exploration, we show the versatility of these grape varieties. We don’t just taste wine, we travel with it,” says Noël Vanwittenbergh. “Each bottle tells the story of the land, its people and traditions. By understanding these elements, we reveal the true character of the wine.
6 carefully selected wines
Noël’s wine exploration unravels two grape varieties through six carefully selected wines from different countries. The culinary bites, composed by Executive Chef Michel Westerman of the Main Kitchen of the five-star hotel, are inspired by the gastronomic traditions of each wine region. The tasteful combinations enhance the stories that Noël tells, making the journey even more immersive.
