Hemeltjelief Festival
The Hemeltjelief family festival will return to the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam in Spring 2023. The NDSM wharf is transformed into one large puppet theatre for 4 days where funny performances, special shows and colourful children's activities take place. During the day, in the evening and at night there is plenty to see and experience for young and old. Unlike previous years, you can now enjoy this cosy and cheerful festival for children and adults all weekend. Get ready for another extensive musical and theatrical line-up!
Hemeltjelief Festival
Do it yourself and discover
For 14 years, Hemeltjelief has surprised its visitors of all ages with a creative programme that focuses on doing and discovering yourself. Each edition has its own theme that is derived from a Dutch proverb or saying. This year it is: De poppen aan het dansen! (The dolls are dancing!) and the entire programme, decoration and even the food will be tailored towards this. Artists from the NDSM wharf will supervise the workshops and give performances across the various stages. The day is traditionally concluded on the lawn with fun bands for young and old. And for the night owls, there is also an afterparty in Noorderlicht.
4 days of festivities
Hemeltjelief is for young and old, but has a focus on children from about 6 to 10 years old. Due to its increasing popularity, the organisation has decided to programme the Hemeltjelief Festival for 4 days for the first time this year, but with fewer visitors on site. With this, the festival wants to offer more space for the creative programme and create the right setting and attention for the performances. The festival starts in the morning 'quietly' until through the course of the afternoon music performances take place across the various stages. The local bands and DJs that perform are different every day and cover a wide musical spectrum: Americana, gypsy, Latin, reggae, funk, disco and ska.
Hemeltjelief goes on until 23:00 when it is traditionally time for the illustrious afterparty at Noorderlicht. This year, evening tickets will also be sold for the first time if you prefer to be on the dance floor right away with your hands in the air.
