Afval naar Oogstfeest - over composteren in de stad
Thanks to the efforts of the organization Waste to Harvest and hundreds of volunteers, fifteen community gardens have already saved more than 25,000 kilos of vegetable and fruit waste from the trash this year. This result will be celebrated on September 28 during the Waste to Harvest Festival. Eleven new collection points will also open where Amsterdam residents can register to hand in their organic waste.

Waste to Harvest
Waste to Harvest enables Amsterdam residents to hand in their peels and cores at 22 community gardens and city farms. The organization guides volunteers in making high-quality compost, which they then use to feed the gardens. During the Waste to Harvest Festival, visitors to these community gardens can, among other things, receive an explanation about composting and register as a vegetable and fruit waste donor.
Program
You can also discover what else you can do with kitchen waste. For example, participate in a workshop on making paint with vegetable peels. Or immerse yourself in the wonderful world of soil. In Amsterdam-West you can participate in a special Waste to Harvest cycling route! More information about the program and the participating locations can be found on the website or social media of Waste to Harvest. Registration is not required.
