Happy love life

How can you be happy in your love life? Imitation is the easiest way. Imitate someone who seems to have the love you want.

But there immediately lies a problem. In this time of irony, fear of commitment and stress of choice, a time when more marriages fail prematurely than last, and app developers make their money by constantly encouraging us to consume mainly the fleeting, physical side of love. Not that there is anything wrong with the latter - but, as a whole battery of philosophers, sociologists, and novelists can shout at you in unison, it is not a substitute for romantic love.

Celebrate love

The group exhibition Yes, I Do at Nieuw Dakota celebrates romantic love. You will be presented with works of art by five 'successful' love couples that can serve as examples for your own love life. They have individually sought inspiration in what is most familiar to them: the relationship with their other half.

Participating artists: Sylvie Zijlmans, Hewald Jongenelis, Marta Volkova, Slava Shevelenko, Marieke van Rooy, Domenico Mangano, Tengbeh Kamara, Sophie Engels, Stan Wannet & Leila Anderson. But also: Menno de Bree
