Financial history and legacies
Dutch financial innovations, but also people – bankers, investors and savers – played an essential role in financing colonial campaigns and slavery plantations. In Someone is getting rich - assembled by guest curator Carrie Pilto - contemporary artists make visible that colonial inventions such as tradable shares and investment funds have shaped the global financial system. But above all, they reveal how the aftermath of colonialism is still embedded in the financial sector today.
