Operation Living - Museum around the corner
In the second edition of Collecting the City in the Amsterdam Museum, one of the themes is the housing culture and crisis in Amsterdam. Operatie Wonen looks back from the present on a century of Amsterdam's residential culture. You can see the development of housing situations in certain Amsterdam neighborhoods and zoom in on the current housing crisis. Is there a difference in how you want to live and how you can live right now? And what is the solution for this?
Operation Living - Museum around the corner
Critical reflection on the housing market then and now
The exhibition looks back on a century of living in Amsterdam from a contemporary perspective. The result is a critical reflection on living in the past and present in the four neighborhoods where the local museums are located: the Van der Pekbuurt, De Baarsjes, Slotermeer and the Eastern Docklands. What are the current problems on the housing market and what are the solutions? The vision of experts gives us insight.
Local residents also have their say about their neighbourhood. What attracted them to this neighborhood in the first place and what about now?
