Between the Sea and the Sky

Ode to the Netherlands takes visitors along 20 Dutch communities that cherish their regional and traditional costumes, including the Zaanstreek. The photos show how traditional clothing is lovingly preserved and worn. The exhibition offers a contemporary perspective on the preservation of Dutch cultural heritage and calls for more attention to our own traditions. It is based on Nelson's book Between the Sea and the Sky.

Visitors to the exhibition can work on creative textile assignments in the TexLAB. There are also lectures and workshops. The programming was developed in collaboration with the Modemuze platform, Crafts Council Nederland, Stichting de Zaanse Kaper, and textile and regional costume specialist Inge Bosman.
