Matthew Wong started drawing and painting in 2011 at the age of 27. In a few years he developed his own style, in which he painted imaginative landscapes with intense colours. Van Gogh was a great example to him. This exhibition takes a closer look at the artistic and personal connection between the two artists. You will find parallels in both their art and their life story: Wong and Van Gogh searched for a long time for a vocation in life and finally found it in painting. Both struggled with mental health issues and for both artists this struggle resulted in a tragic untimely death. Despite these similarities, they each created a highly personal and emotionally charged body of work. The exhibition shows a wide selection of works by Wong, interspersed with relevant works by Van Gogh.
