H'ART Museum celebrates Amsterdam's 750th anniversary with the festive exhibition Happy Birthday Amsterdam. This show honours the city as a vibrant art hub, featuring a rich and colourful collection of works by 75 artists from the past to the present. From Karel Appel to Marina Abramović. It will be on view from 4 December 2024 to 16 March 2025.

Amsterdam 750 Years, go big or go home

To mark Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, H’ART Museum on the Amstel is pulling out all the stops with two unique jubilee exhibitions. This duo showcases the famous Amsterdam of Rembrandt and offers a vibrant and surprising artistic tribute to the city’s rich history.

Happy Birthday Amsterdam

"Happy Birthday Amsterdam" celebrates the city known for its free and creative spirit, a cultural hub for artists from around the globe. The exhibition features a lively and colourful collection of works by 75 past and present artists. Rather than a historical overview, it’s a festive tribute to the city and the artists who have lived, worked, or visited here, contributing to Amsterdam's legacy in their own unique ways.

From Karel Appel to Marina Abramović, and even Johan Cruijff through the eyes of Marlene Dumas, the collection is diverse, surprising, and recognisable to lovers of both art and Amsterdam. The exhibition is created in collaboration with various institutions, with the Dutch Cultural Heritage Agency as a key lender and partner. Celebrate 750 years of Amsterdam with us!
