Fanal: Ode to Ethereal

In this exhibition, Felix Morrison presents a profound, atmospheric journey through the Fanal Forest in Madeira, Portugal. Shot in black and white, these misty images show Ylenia Asaro moving like a ghost through ancient trees, frozen in a dance that spans centuries.

Each photograph here becomes a single, haunting frame of “deconstructed film,” where mist, shadow and the raw beauty of nature collide. Together with Asaro’s narrative vision, the exhibition follows the journey of a human spirit as her character discovers, doubts and ultimately finds peace within this otherworldly realm.

Asaro and Morrison have curated and arranged the collection to flow like a cinematic narrative—a “deconstructed film,” in which each image is a still frame in an unfolding journey. The series invites reflection on nature, the transience of life, and humanity’s fleeting place in a world that will outlast us.

The photographs are accompanied by a meditative 15-minute orchestral soundtrack composed by Kaspar Noé, a close friend whose background in electronic and orchestral composition adds a rich, cinematic quality to the experience.

Inspired by Morrison’s vision, Noé created a soundscape that interweaves elements of the forest, soft breezes, distant sounds of nature and deeply moving strings. His music flows through the images, inviting viewers into a world where sight and sound become a shared dream.
