On Saturday, March 11, 2023, the solo exhibition 'Faassen Fashion Show' by the Amsterdam artist Paul Faassen will open. In the past 25 years that Faassen illustrated for magazines and newspapers, he commented on the fashion industry in drawings, cartoons and photos with his sharp and humorous eye. In I love Illustration Gallery, a selection of new works is shown together with a number of new bird watercolours, 'The Fashion Birds'.

In recent years, Faassen has drawn extensively on the relationship between human and non-human animals. 'The dividing line between the two is getting thinner with every scientific study, but one big difference remains: fashion!
He sees it as an enormous enrichment of existence to express an identity with clothing. Couture is a beautiful art form. Beautiful clothes give a good mood and pick up your whole being. Yet there is a love/hate relationship, because as consumers and producers we have gone too far and have turned it into an extremely polluting and money-consuming industry.
Especially for this solo show, Faassen will make a new series of bird watercolors; The Fashion Birds . A must-see for every fashion lover and bird watcher!
