Exhibition about the food crisis

The solution to this food crisis is often sought outside of ourselves. Everything on our plates has been made bigger or juicier, or easier to produce. But what happens if we don't adapt our food to people, but people to food? This is what future food designer Chloé Rutzerveld investigates in her latest art installation Etende Buizen .

In her art installation she presents you with 3 scenarios: from an extra organ, adjusting our DNA to a shot of bacteria. Eating Tubes invites you to think about our insides.

About Chloé Rutzerveld

Ever since Chloé Rutzerveld (1992) graduated as an industrial designer on a 3D-printed edible vegetable garden, she has been doing creative research into the future of food. Her installation Etende Buizen goes a step further. In it, she challenges visitors to think about how much we ourselves are prepared to change for a more sustainable planet. Chloé says about this:

'I am fascinated by the idea that we are all 'eating tubes': a kind of tube from mouth to butt in which food is converted into energy. So yes, I sometimes look at my poop in amazement. We would burden the earth less with a plant-based diet, but then we would have to become more efficient herbivores.'
