Wonderkind Felix - First works by a true master
Child prodigy Felix
The concert 'Wonderkind Felix' is the second part of the seven-year project about the life, work and world of the composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. With this project, Ars Musica has taken a unique approach to making classical music accessible to all generations. In a dynamic arrangement, both the choir and the orchestra make music from memory. The program takes the audience to his deepest thoughts, musical sources of inspiration, foreign travel experiences and first masterpieces. Concertgoers will be amazed by the virtuoso, sparkling 'First Symphony', written by a 14-year-old, and by listening to the cantata 'Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten' they will understand why Europe was so unanimous in its praise for this wonderful young man. Choir and Orchestra of Ars Musica take the audience on a musical journey through different eras and genres in a compelling performance.
The story behind the composer
To give the audience more insight into the working process of the very young Felix, David Prins as narrator will not only introduce the musical pieces, but also provide background information. Letter fragments from and to Felix are used for this, giving the audience a deeper understanding of the music and the story behind the composer.
