Wende
Wende began her career in 2003 and has since created eight albums and six original shows, with success both at home and abroad. In 2023, she reached a new career high with the album "Sterrenlopen ," which features collaborations with Froukje and S10. The album debuted at #2 in the Dutch album charts, and Wende performed at Lowlands that year, among other venues. This added to her already impressive resume, which includes Edison Awards in almost every category, as well as a Golden Calf nomination for her performance. In the past year, Wende further expanded her oeuvre. She toured internationally with The Promise , played a second sold-out club tour for "Sterrenlopen ," released her EP "Vrijplaats ," and closed the year with a series of sold-out shows at Carré. In October 2025, she will embark on a tour with "Vrijplaats," concluding at the Concertgebouw. One thing is certain: Wende continues to surprise as one of the most versatile artists in the Netherlands.
Sanctuary
In this intimate and acclaimed show, Wende transforms the stage into a place where anything is possible: a sanctuary. Along with pianist Nils Davidse, Wende takes the audience on a journey, the soundtrack of which consists of nothing more than two pianos, her voice, and a song. Wende and Nils create a unique atmosphere, challenging themselves to be fully present in the moment with minimal resources. Every night of Vrijplaats on tour is unique. With a changing setlist, ranging from pop, rock, punk, musicals, chansons, and original work, Wende strips her own songs and those of others back to their essence. In addition, the audience is surprised each night by a different guest artist, a well-known or emerging artist whom Wende admires for their musical purity. Carré's impressive guest list included: Froukje, Sef, Carice van Houten, Jacqueline Govaert, Maan, MEROL, Abel, and Pitou.
