About the Frederico Calcagno Octet
Clarinetist and composer Federico Calcagno is recognized as one of the most innovative musicians in European jazz and improvised music. He has received prestigious awards such as the Keep an Eye The Records 2023 and the Premio Internazionale Giorgio Gaslini 2020. His latest album, Mundus Inversus (Habitable Records, 2024), features a contemporary jazz ensemble with eight international musicians. Inspired by Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch and the tarot archetype of the Hanged Man, the music ranges from delicate passages to intense outbursts, blending melodies and harmonies in unique ways.
