Norwegian pianist Tord Gustavsen spent his childhood in the countryside and learned to play in church. This can be heard on the albums he released on the famous ECM label. He has previously arranged Norwegian hymns and chorales by Bach. He places beautiful age-old melodies next to his own compositions, which have previously been described as wordless songs or abstract gospel.
