Themaconcert Van Dvorak naar Duke Ellington
On Sunday, April 23, we're gonna swing in the Dominicus Church. Wind orchestra Groot Excelsior and Youth Orchestra Jong Excelsior from Amsterdam show how traditional African chants, via Negro Spirituals, ended up in the classical American compositions of Dvorák and the jazz symphonies of Bernstein and Gershwin and how the development took place into jazz compositions for the great swing orchestras such as that of Duke Ellington.
