TenClub's Érard Series: Bas van Lier & Henry Kelder Duo Piano Concert
This season’s last episode in TenClub’s critically acclaimed Erard Series is set to be a very special one. TenClub members Bas van Lier and Henry Kelder both happen to be great piano players, but they come from two very different backgrounds: Van Lier plays jazz, and Kelder is a classical piano player. For this unique event, we will dust off our second Érard to join the first one for a magical evening where these two worlds will merge.
TenClub's Érard Series: Bas van Lier & Henry Kelder Duo Piano Concert
The Érard series
Enjoy a profound rendition of the two Érard grand pianos by star pianists Bas van Lier and Henry Kelder in the unique atmosphere of TenClub’s Mayer Manor in the heart of Amsterdam.
Both musicians will prepare some music, but there will also be room for improvisation. Expect music from Liszt, Chopin, Gershwin and Ellington to name but a few and some stunning original work from TenClub’s star pianists. Van Lier and Kelder will also take the occasion to proudly present the programming for the new Érard Series season, starting in September.
The Érard
The sound of this 1892 Érard at TenClub, restored with great precision and love, is original and unparalleled. The music as Bas van Lier and Henry Kelder will play it on the two Érard’s is as the composers once intended it to be played. After all, not only were the ‘timeless’ pieces created on the instrument, but all the greats of classical music actually also played on an Érard grand piano: Chopin, Mendelssohn, Verdi, Liszt, Ravel, Fauré, Wagner, Debussy and Diepenbrock, to name but a few.
