Sjoerd van Eijck's Oak - Eight

'Eight' is the second album by the band of pianist and composer Sjoerd van Eijck. The album is the result of a search for a new sound, inspired by the music of Ennio Morricone from the film The Hateful Eight and the French composer Olivier Messiaen. With 'Eight' the pianist shows the ability to create sound images that evoke emotions and tell stories.

'Elaborate compositions are performed in a breathtakingly intimate manner by Oak. Intense depth, simplicity, honesty'. (Storm Bakker, Jazzism)

Willem Abelen - Flux

'Flux' is the debut album by saxophonist and composer Willem Abelen. He sees the record as a reflection on current events, the chaotic times we live in today. It is cinematic jazz, where each piece tells a story and at the same time the musicians are given the freedom to add their own chapter. The tasteful addition of effect pedals to sax, guitar and drums makes the music even richer, which varies from intimate and atmospheric to groovy and chaotic.

'Beautiful, thoughtful jazz with a sense of both detail and adventure'. (Haarlems Dagblad)
