A storyteller at the piano
The evening begins with an unfinished piano sonata by Schubert, and we hear his own arrangement of Richard Strauss' orchestral tone poem Tod und Verklärung. After the intermission, Von Eckardstein has the piano sing in two shorter Russian works, Rachmaninov's song The Muse, which comes from the same set as his well-known Vocalise, and part of the set Fairy Tale by the late romanticist Nicolai Medtner.
Chopin's complete Impromptus rounds off this special programme. Written for the intimacy of the French salon, these beautiful works come out beautifully in the intimate setting of our church and are therefore a dream conclusion. If you want to buy tickets for this concert, use the ticket link .
