Mountain walks

When his beloved sister Fanny Mendelssohn died in 1847, Felix took time for himself in Switzerland to process this loss. He painted, took mountain walks and composed his 'Sixth String Quartet' there. It would be one of the last completed works; he died the same year as his sister. Fanny was not allowed to make a career out of her talent as a composer, but nowadays, women who compose are no longer a rarity. Her colleague Seung-Won Oh wrote a new work for the Ragazze Quartet.
