Robert Forster

Brisbane-based Robert Forster is a singer-songwriter, author and co-founder of the pop rock band The Go-Betweens. In 1989 the band split up and Forster started a solo career. In 2000, he reunited with bandmate Grant McLennan and recorded two more The Go-Betweens albums. Please note: the end time mentioned is an indication.

New music and a new novel

After McLennan's death in 2006, Forster became music critic for The Monthly. He received an honorary doctorate in 2015 and published his memoirs in Grant & I in 2016. Music is a refuge for Forster in both good and bad times, even after McLennan's death. Between 2007 and 2023, Forster released four solo albums, on which his wife and children also contributed. The Australian is currently not only working on new music, but also on a new novel.
