Rising Stars: Mathis Stier
In the Rising Stars series, the stars of the future present themselves with unique programs. The German bassoonist Mathis Stier is associated with the WDR Sinfonieorchester in daily life, but will present an extremely varied program in the Recital Hall of the Royal Concertgebouw, including a commissioned composition by Maria Sigfúsdóttir.

Mathis Stier
Mathis Stier has been principal bassoonist with the WDR Sinfonieorchester since 2016 - when Stier was in his early twenties - a wonderful position. When asked about his important artistic experiences, he mentions the variety of ideas he received from his different teachers. For the German wind player there is also a lot besides music, such as his favorite activities: photography, football, walking and reading. His tour suitcase contains work from Boeddecker to Holliger. Mathis Stier takes you on a journey through time. Special guest tonight is Ivan Podyomov, solo oboist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra. He joins Poulenc's Trio for oboe, bassoon and piano .
