Lucy Horsch
As the youngest laureate ever, recorder player Lucie Horsch won the Dutch Music Prize in 2020. This season, the internationally acclaimed Horsch will be touring Europe as a Rising Star. She plays the Conversations program with lutenist Thomas Dunford. From Dowland and Bach to Isang Yun: Horsch journeys through many centuries and across many continents. From Debussy, she plays the mystical Syrinx. The Finnish composer Lotta Wennäkoski, who studied with Louis Andriessen, wrote a new solo piece for Horsch. Today Horsch plays the Dutch premiere.
Rising Stars
In Rising Stars, hear the most outstanding young talents selected by the most prestigious European concert halls. They will tour the most important music cities. The six laureates will each present their own concert in the Kleine Zaal. The choice is very varied. Ukrainian violinist Diana Tishchenko performs Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata, among others. Percussionist Vanessa Porter brings a program in which silence plays a significant role. The German Aris Quartett came together at a very young age and plays, among other things, Schubert's poignant Rosamunde Quartet. You will also hear saxophonist Jess Gillam and baritone James Newby.
