Giorgi Gigashvili

Georgian musician Giorgi Gigashvili was born in Tbilisi. He played the piano without ever considering a professional career as a pianist. Yet his teachers were renowned: Nelson Goerner and Kirill Gerstein. Gigashvili has a passion for his country's folk songs, which he enjoys arranging. He combines his career as a classical pianist with his love of electronic and experimental music, and he also enjoys composing. Giorgi Gigashvili is not only a Rising Star, but was also selected as a BBC New Generation Artist 2023-2025. In his evening program, "Georgia on My Mind," Gigashvili performs folk piano works by Grieg and Chopin and, with singer Nini Nutsubidze, presents his own arrangements of Georgian folk songs.
