Benjamin Kruithof
Rising star Benjamin Kruithof, winner of the National Cello Competition in 2020, serves a programme in which the renowned composer and pedagogue Nadia Boulanger takes centre stage. 'Stravinsky was good friends with Nadia Boulanger, she also gave composition lessons to Stravinsky's son', says Kruithof. 'One of Sally Beamish's teachers took lessons from Boulanger. Britten has a connection with Beamish, both are English.' The Luxembourg cellist has put together a programme in which the colour and style of the pieces differ significantly from each other. Beamish is writing a brand new work commissioned by Het Concertgebouw, among others.
