Rising Stars: Aris Quartett
This concert is part of our season theme “Hemelstormers”. With Hemelbestormers we focus on the up-and-coming generation of top musicians. They present themselves with innovative programs, often in a personal way. Tonight the Aris Quartet, are on the stage of the Recital Hall of the Royal Concertgebouw. The German Aris Quartett was formed in high school. First violinist Katharina Wildermuth explains: We grew up together. Not just as musicians, but also as people.

They were all studying in Frankfurt am Main when they decided to form a string quartet. They were still teenagers. 'Actually, that's very good for a string quartet. When you're as young as we were, there's not that much pressure on it yet', says first violinist Katharina Wildermuth of the Aris Quartett. After more than ten years as a quartet, they are now allowed to tour as Rising Stars. 'Presenting ourselves internationally, and playing in all those beautiful venues, is very important to us.' The Aris Quartett has been nominated for Rising Stars by the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Konzerthaus Dortmund.
Rising Stars
In Rising Stars you will hear the greatest young talents, selected by the most prestigious European concert halls. They will tour the most important music cities. The six laureates will each present their own concert in the Kleine Zaal. The choice is very varied. Ukrainian violinist Diana Tishchenko performs Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata, among others. Percussionist Vanessa Porter brings a program in which silence plays a major role. You will also hear saxophonist Jess Gillam, recorder player Lucie Horsch and baritone James Newby.
