Quatuor Mosaïques has been around for over thirty-five years and can draw on a rich past. The Austrian quartet carries a special memory of Beethoven's playing. One summer evening the musicians rehearsed an early Beethoven quartet.
A butterfly flew into the room through the open window and sat on the first violinist's part. “During the entire slow movement, that butterfly was listening to us,” cellist Christophe Coin recalls.
