Portuguese traditional music with a twist
The Miras Trio is a new fado group that originated in Amsterdam in 2022. The group brings the roots of Portuguese traditional music with a unique touch.
Fado means "destiny", one of the manifestations of the identity and voice of the Portuguese people since the 19th century. Fado music conveys the joys and sorrows of the Portuguese soul.
Miras, the three gods of fate, responsible for weaving the thread of life, is inspired by Greek mythology.
The trio, founded by Joana Almeida on guitar, together with Sofia Pedro on vocals (both from Portugal) and Juan Sebastián Blanco (Colombia) on harp, brings the Fado Novo to the Netherlands.
