Or Bareket
His agile, melodic playing and richly varied compositions already reveal something about his background: double bassist Or Bareket was born in Jerusalem, grew up in Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv and is currently part of the booming jazz scene of Brooklyn, New York. Like a true world traveller, he connects influences from the Middle East, Latin America and North Africa to create new music.
Or Bareket
Sahara
Sahar, the title of his recent album, refers to the moment just before sunrise. In his own band, Or Bareket is surrounded by promising young musicians. Savannah Harris has more than proven her drumming talent in the bands of jazz greats such as Geri Allen, Jason Moran and Kenny Barron. Multi-instrumentalist Morgan Guerin can be heard here on the tenor sax and the electronic wind instrument EWI. Jeremy Corren is also a pianist with Joel Ross, who also produced Sahar. Sahar is Or Bareket's third album and was released by the well-known label Enja Records.
